When people think of rock climbing, they often imagine Alex Honnold scaling El Capitan without a rope; his life would end with one mistake. Free Solo style. That is NOT what we do at PCMSC. If you’re an adrenaline junky with a death wish and nothing to lose, call Alex. If you’re on Medicare, want a challenge and have had a hip replacement, join us climbing with PCMSC!
The climbing that we’re doing through PCMSC is top-rope climbing. A rope through an anchor at the top of the climb is tied to the climber on one end and a belayer on the other. As the climber climbs, the belayer retrieves rope keeping the climber taut and safe. If the climber falls, the length of a fall is very short and usually only the stretch of the rope.
Join fellow PCMSC members for indoor and outdoor climbing during the summer months. We typically climb once a week, with most indoor outings taking place at Momentum Indoor Climbing Gym at Mill Creek in Salt Lake City, while outdoor venues vary.
Whether you are an experienced climber with belay and lead climber certification, or curious to try a new adventure, you are welcome to join us.
